Age Does Not Makes You Mature.. Responsibility Does
A mature person's decisions are based on character and practicality, not feelings and emotions
Mature people—students and adults—live by values. They have principles that guide their decisions. They are able to progress beyond merely reacting to life's options.
Mature people are able to accept themselves for who they are; they practice kindness even in the face of their shortcomings.
People that are emotionally repressed as children are often thought of as being "mature" for their age, until they get older and suddenly the cracks in their psyche start shining through, and then people view them as "immature" because they haven't learned how to express themselves efficiently.
What can be done ?
Start by taking responsibility for your actions. Try to reason from a different perspective before taking any action. Avoid risky behavior. Improve your self-awareness and self-understanding, and keep an open mind.
You can seek to improve yourself and grow as an individual, but maturity allows you to take your present situation and all the past events that have led to it and make peace with them.
Maturity is often seen in correlation to these factors; accountability (and responsibility), capability and understanding. Maturity brings with it an independence to reason, in other words, thinking for yourself, and using whatever knowledge you were taught and incorporating it with your own reasoning and beliefs. Children have this ability to reason. This ability does not come with age. It comes with responsibilities
The mind matures with age, yes. As we grow older, there are certain physical changes and growth that take place internally and those changes bring about some sort of maturity. Maturity by age is science. The body matures, so does the mind as we grow toward adulthood and later years. However, there is a maturity that takes place beyond an age correlation.
People mature by experience and circumstance. People mature from trauma, religion, conditioning and in some cases cultural training.
